Meet Pilar. As a top NYC stylist currently with MSG Media, CNN’s HLN Showbiz Tonight and countless freelance projects on other networks to private client closet cleanses, Pilar has been creating cutting-edge looks for the networks on air personalities and celebrity guests for well over a decade. From on-air segments, awards shows and press junkets to television appearances and premieres, Pilar is an accomplished stylist who has a keen understanding of what looks great on both women and men – no matter what their size or style may be. With her vast styling experience, an innate understanding of what looks good on different body types and a comprehensive knowledge of fabrics, fit and feel, Pilar is consistently a favorite with talent and has styled countless red carpet events – from the Grammy Awards to the MTV Video Music Awards, along with a plethora of other industry awards shows and events. She has also worked closely with the channel’s marketing, creative and photo departments on numerous events and promotions, lending her work to appear in leading fashion magazines – from People and Glamour to Self and Marie Claire.
Pilar’s passion for fashion began as a child, and it evolved into a career when she joined New York Magazine as a fashion assistant in 1994. She later moved onto the fashion departments at Self and Glamour before entering the TV realm when she joined VH-1 in 1997 and stayed for several years. Pilar’s reputation for creativity melded with the utmost in professionalism was instituted from the beginning and over the years, it’s only continued to flourish. Pilar loves to work with an array of clients and has served as a freelance stylist for some of today’s biggest brands – from Estee Lauder to Grand Marnier – yet, she’s also built a loyal following of women who rely on her as their personal wardrobe consultants.
In 2003, Pilar made the leap from stylist to designer and business owner, when she launched her own collection of fashion-forward maternity clothing, named “me & b.” Utilizing Pilar’s unique eye, combined with her love for working with real women with real bodies, me & b maternity offered just the right mix of luxuriously effortless staples and remarkable signature pieces made from top-quality fabrics and flattering cuts for all nine months and beyond. The line was an instant hit and was favored by leading fashion and pregnancy magazines, as well as retailers nationwide. Pilar sold the company in late 2005 in order to dedicate all of her time to her true passion, styling.
Today, Pilar is stationed at FUSE, music television, as well as a regular @ A&E Television styling their hosts, and is frequently called upon as a fashion expert in the freelance realm. Whether its styling for Pantene during New York Fashion Week, freelancing as a fashion expert for Marie Claire or serving as a wardrobe consultant for women and men in need of some styling assistance, Pilar still garners the same satisfaction from fashion styling as she did when she started over a decade ago.
